Just outside Malmö, Sweden, Vista unfolds as a series of outdoor rooms, where landscape and furnishing extend the workplace into the open air—used daily as a natural part of office life.
Vista is an office building in Hyllie, Malmö, composed of stacked volumes that step back to form a sequence of terraces across multiple levels. Designed by EGA, Erik Giudice Architects (design) together with Panorama Arkitekter (construction), and developed by Wihlborgs Fastigheter, the building is structured around these outdoor spaces.
The terraces are integral to the architecture, varying in scale, orientation and character. At ground level, more public spaces connect to the surrounding neighbourhood, with planting, open paving and generous seating inviting both passers-by and employees. Higher up, the terraces become more enclosed, offering quieter settings for breaks, informal meetings and outdoor work.
Material transitions support this shift. Stone paving defines movement and circulation, while timber elements introduce warmth in places of rest. Glass railings maintain openness and frame long views across the landscape—an aspect that gives the building its name.
Nola was involved early in the process, working closely with Wihlborgs and the design team to develop layouts and furnishing strategies for each terrace. Rather than applying a standard solution, the approach was to respond to the specific conditions of each space—its size, orientation and intended use.
Larger terraces were furnished to support social use, with long tables and circular seating encouraging shared moments and informal gatherings. More secluded areas offer quieter places to pause, while pergolas and integrated tables enable outdoor work throughout the day. Across all levels, furniture contributes to structuring movement, defining zones and supporting a varied rhythm of use.
Planting is integrated throughout, softening the architecture and reinforcing the spatial character of each terrace. Together, landscape and furnishing shape a sequence of outdoor environments that support a more flexible and connected workday.
