Anyone heading from Düsseldorf Airport or the northern districts toward the city centre inevitably passes Kennedydamm — a key urban artery lined with striking office buildings. Among them, the newly completed One Plaza stands out as a flagship for contemporary, sustainable architecture.

Designed to meet strict green building standards and shaped by an innovative landscape concept by +grün, the project combines environmental responsibility with high-quality design, creating a refined urban environment that balances activity with calm.

The Challenge: Bringing Light into Green Spaces

From a landscape perspective, the goal was to create an urban retreat that balanced functionality with a sense of calm and character — all within a challenging architectural framework:

• Varying ground levels
• Limited installation depths inside planting containers
• Strict requirements for the protection class and durability
• Seamless integration into a refined architectural environment

This is where ADO Lights stepped in – delivering a custom lighting solution that met every technical and aesthetic requirement.

The Solution: Invisible Technology, Visible Impact

To support the landscape concept, precision-engineered LED Lightlines by ADO Lights were discreetly integrated into custom planter-benches. These luminaires subtly outline pathways, define spatial zones, and cast a warm, controlled glow across the terraces after dark.

The inner courtyard, a central gathering space and focal point of the project, is particularly enhanced by this restrained lighting approach, which reinforces spatial clarity without competing with the architecture or planting.

Thanks to high IP protection, durable PU encapsulation, and intelligent dimmable control, the lighting system is designed for reliable, long-term outdoor use.
