Topography

Topography is the description and mapping of the physical features of land—its morphology; elevations, slopes, forms, and contours. It is often seen as technical ground data, but topography also structures how landscapes are lived: uphill, downhill, exposed, sheltered. In landscape architecture, topography is not background but material. To work with topography is to sculpt movement, drainage, visibility, and experience across scales.
