Founded in 1990, Espace Libre is a forward-thinking studio specializing in landscape architecture, urban planning, and project design. With more than three decades of experience, the firm has become a leading studio in creating meaningful, sustainable spaces; from urban restructuring and infrastructure projects to parks, cycling paths, playgrounds, sports grounds, and residential developments.
At the heart of Espace Libre’s philosophy lies a deep commitment to the environmental challenges of our time. The team works on projects that reconnect nature and city life: building ecological corridors, restoring natural habitats, adapting spaces to rising water levels, desealing urban soils, and creating cool islands that bring comfort and resilience to communities.
Since 2009, the studio has been led by Maxime Saïsse, whose direction has strengthened its creative vision and technical expertise. With a multidisciplinary team of 16 professionals, Espace Libre combines design excellence, project management, and construction oversight with an agile approach that adapts to each project’s unique context.
The studio’s design strategy is rooted in revealing the character and structure of existing landscapes, transforming them into functional, social, and inspiring places. Every project seeks to enhance the identity of its surroundings while fostering connection between people and their environment.
Within the studio, landscape architects, urban planners, architects, and engineers work hand in hand to deliver comprehensive, innovative solutions that enrich and transform territories. The firm’s contemporary landscapes reflect both creativity and technical mastery.
With offices in Bonsecours (near Rouen), Lille, Rennes, and Paris, and a growing portfolio of international projects, Espace Libre continues to shape the landscapes, designing spaces where nature, people, and urban life thrive together.
