Selected from 410 nominations for the EUmies Awards, the announced shortlist presents a broad overview of current architectural production across Europe, spanning 36 cities in 18 countries. Out of 40 projects shortlisted for the 2026 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture, four fall within the landscape category, among which Toposcape received the 2024 LILA Award.
The jury, chaired by Smiljan Radić and composed of Carl Bäckstrand, Chris Briffa, Zaiga Gaile, Tina Gregorič, Nikolaus Hirsch, and Rosa Rull, evaluated the submissions over three days in Barcelona. Their discussion focused on the relationship between architectural quality, social value, and climate commitments, in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal.
The four shortlisted landscape projects reflect a range of approaches, from regeneration and ecological integration to public realm enhancement. In total, the selection includes 21 regeneration works, 17 new constructions, and 2 extensions, with a majority commissioned by public clients.
Finalists will be announced in February, and the winners in April. The EUmies Awards Days, including the award ceremony, debates, and exhibitions, will take place in Barcelona on 11–12 May 2026, as part of the city’s programme as UNESCO-UIA World Capital of Architecture.
